Keep your drink as warm or cold for as long as it takes to enjoy it with these clear insulated Mugs.
Tervis Tumblers are the strongest, most durable drinkware available. Featuring ultrasonically sealed double wall insulation & made of polycarbonate with the clarity of glass, they keep beverages hot or cold longer without a drop of condensation. Lifetime manufacturer's guarantee.
Don't think of Better-Bottle carboys as plastic; think of them as better than glass, because they are made from a special, scientifically tested, polyethylene terephthalate copolymer, which does not have all the disadvantages of other plastics. They are tough and essentially unbreakable, pure taste and odor free, BPA-free, DEHP-free, plasticizer-free. They are also virtually impermeable to oxygen, clear and colorless, incredibly light weight, and easy to wash. The special PET from which they are made is non-absorbing, non-porous, and non-wetting so it will not carry over flavors from one batch of wine or beer to the next and it is easy to clean and sanitize. Optional closures that use O-rings to make tighter seals are more easily cleaned and sanitized than conventional stoppers. In short, Better-Bottle fermentation equipment is better ideal for home winemaking and home brewing.

Are you, like many Marketing planners considering what items to stock up on for the busy summer season? The world of promotional items and merchandising is ever increasing but the solution to a great promotional product is sometimes simpler than it seems - this summer is all about simplicity, and there is no better give away than a Water Bottle in Aluminum or Stainless steel to keep your customers hydrated during hot summer days with the sun beaming down.
The Aluminum and Stainless bottles are great for carrying around and packing because they are virtually unbreakable and make for a perfect companion on the beach. Summer usually equals outdoor activity and many consumers are looking for convenience and a product that is light. Glass as a material is significantly heavier than Aluminum and Stainless Steel, making glass less desirable as a material in bottles for outdoor activities.
What makes the Aluminum and Stainless steel bottles perfect is that they are light weight, virtually indestructible and easy to carry around. Many stainless steel bottle solutions are designed specifically for recreational activities and come with convenient hanging and carrying straps and handles. These bottles have become so popular that they have their own category called "sports bottles" and come in a variety of designs, forms and shapes.
The bottling industry of popular beverages has caught up on the Aluminum and Stainless Steel trend and today you will find certain drinks in the aisle of your super market bottled in trendy non-glass, non-plastic bottle solutions.
But it is as a promotional item, that these bottles have the ability to make a significant blast for your brand. Outdoor exposure, recreational sports environments, beaches and down-town tourist-filled settings are ideal places where your logo and slogan can be put on display for the fraction of the cost of an expensive billboard, not to mention 30-second television spot.
As a marketing planner and buyer of merchandise, the time to stock up on promotional items for the busy summer season is now. There are numerous suppliers of high end and regular market bottles in Aluminum and Stainless Steel. Online vendors of promotional merchandise have exceedingly become proficient in sourcing or creating creative bottle solutions that go beyond the bottles that were popular 10 or 20 years ago.
You will find that most of the creative designs forms and shapes that you find walking down the aisle of your supermarket, you will find at your promotional product supplier.
For this summer season, one thing is sure - outdoor activity will be everywhere, and that's why Aluminum and Stainless Steel Bottles will be a sure seller and excellent way to display your brand.
DiscountMugs.com is a large distribution company based in Miami, Florida. They are web-based and factory-direct which allows them to keep prices lower than the rest of the competition. Amazing New Chilly Twist Cooled Cup, Drinks chilled colder than ice!!!
Expressing breast milk from work takes a lot of time and dedication, so anything that will make the process easier is appreciated by moms. Storing milk in bottles takes up valuable freezer space and means that you have to keep purchasing more and more bottles to build up your stash of food for baby. These plastic breast milk storage bags come pre-sterilized, and are easy to carry around--as they're not much bigger than a travel pack of tissues. In fact, they come in a tissue-style dispenser, making them easy to access and store. Each bag stores up to 6 ounces, or 180 milliliters of milk, and seals tightly to preserve freshness. Bags lay flat in the freezer saving plenty of space for more milk or other foods. Milk transfers easily from bag to bottle with no spillage. A tab above the fill area lets you write the express date, volume of milk, and the name of your child (in case you are handing it off to a busy daycare provider for feedings) on the bag without worry that you may puncture and contaminate your milk with ink. For moms who have to temporarily store their milk in a busy office refrigerator, a tamper-evident safety seal on each bag informs you if someone has been in your supply. Each box includes 25 storage bags. --Cristina Vaamonde

"fresh club soda" By Ray Acevedo (Fort Lauderdale, FL) This is the best gadget I have purchased so far. I dont have to worry about running out of club soda when I have guest or having a big bottle go flat after just one glass. I serve my friends and family "fresh club soda". No more recycling bottles and I have more pantry space. Except for the price, I cant think of any negatives yet.
"It works." By P. Fuller The product works as described. We drink a good deal of seltzer water, and usually we throw away many partially used bottles. The charge in the water seems to last longer than purchased seltzer.
We used to use the plastic waterbottles but when you washed them- they tasted like soap when you put water or any liquid in them. Now I bought a Thermos brand *Intak beverage bottle* and I wonder if I use regular hand washing dish soap if i will retain the soapy tasted OR if I put it in the dishwasher If it will retain the soapy taste. It says its BPA free impact resistant and made of durable eastman Tritan. Any Ideas to avoid soapy flavor? I do know of the newer plastics do not retain a soapy taste ... Can I just wash this bottle with baking soda OR will that not get it clean enough?
Steve and I have been advocates for drinking tap water for quite some time. Why? Tap water is regulated and good for you, and, we have a very hard time thinking about how many plastic bottles previously containing "water" end up in landfill. Last year while visiting Paris and Amsterdam there was a noticeable movement in restaurants toward tap water, presented in a glass decanter, rather than selling a bottle of water. The production of plastic bottles to carry "filtered" or "remineralized tap water" last year alone used 17 million barrels of oil, produced 2.5 million tons of carbon dioxide and used three times the amount of water used to fill each bottle. Shocking huh? Especially given that we live in a country where clean water is accessible everywhere.
The next big dilemma presents itself in the form of what type of reusable container we should be putting our tap water into. Everyone has heard that Plastic Number 7 is BAD. It's a hard clear plastic found in many reusable containers, from what I have read, it's a catchall number meaning the #7 plastic is made from several types of plastics some of which contain BPA and some of which do not. Still how are you to know?
BPA is a synthetic sex hormone similar to estrogen which is used to harden plastics, however, it has been known to leak into the container's contents. Scientists studying BPA in animal research have found it can cause various health problems including cancer, diabetes, hyperactivity, obesity and early onset of puberty.
So we play safe and rule it out altogether which is what the FDA in Canada has done declaring BPA a TOXIN. YAY CANADA!
With Baby P on the way I have begun to really look for BPA free bottles, sippy cups, utensils, pacifiers and toys. While it will be fine if Baby P lives a lifetime singing show tunes I really don't want to be buying Baby P's first training bra at age six, or carpooling to chemo treatments instead of hockey practice, if I can help prevent it.
So what can you do?
If you are heading out for the day, pack a bottle of water to take along. There are a number of great BPA or Bispenol-A FREE reusable stainless steel bottles on the market specifically made for toting water. Companies like Klean Kanteen, and Sigg, just to name two brands who have taken the lead on the market in eco friendly reusable containers for kids and adults.
For baby items look for the BPA FREE logo in the packaging. I recently bought a set of spoons made by Munchkin who had a big BPA free symbol on the front of the package. Although, not all of their products are BPA free. Careful consideration is still at the buyers discretion. Other great companies making BPA Free products like bottles, sippy cups and pacifiers for babies are Born Free, AVENT, Evenflo glass bottles, Dr.Brown's glass bottles, thinkbaby, Nuby and Sassy MAM.
hello
I bought my son the BPA free Nuby sippy cup but they are low quality, thay leak from the side very easily, the cap is not tight.
is there any sippy cups that you like and are BPA free?
I was thinking about the stainless steel ones?
i asked for BPA free, i don't need someone telling me that it is not harmful, I know the good BPA sippy cups already.
thanks
try stainless steel
Kleen Canteen has a sippy. their products are high quality. I drink my water from thier regular bottles, and if i happen to take some water from a plastic cup now i can taste the plastic. yuck. if you can taste it, you must be drinking chemicals.

Toothpaste - how it makes you sick
Allergies among children are widespread as never before, now Autism, Attention Deficit and Bipolar Disorders are rampant? The multitude of toxic chemicals and their combination embodied in your tube of Toothpaste may hold the answer to many unexplained symptoms of ill-health, mood swings and fatigue.
Just look up the definition of the key ingredients of almost any Toothpaste, with intimidating terms such as: Sodium Fluoride, Triclosan, Polyethylene Glycol, Sodium Hydroxide, FD&C-blue 1, FD&C-yellow 5, Methylparaben, Proylparaben, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, PEG-32, PEG-12, PEG-8, Polypropylene Glycol, Tetrasodium Pyrophosphate, PVM / MA Copolymer, Saccharin, Titanium Dioxide, Sorbitol, Glycerol, Potassium Nitrate, Strontium Chloride, Zinc Citrate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Chlorhexidine, Aluminum Trihydrate, Sodium Hexametaphosphate and Monofluorophosphate, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Silica, Allantoin, Hydrogen Peroxide, BHT, Manganese Gluconate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Thymol, Carrageenan, Fragrance, Flavors, and so on?
Now, which of the above “Ingredients” are benign and which are highly toxic health challengers? Which Toothpaste is safe and which must I avoid? The good news is that there are quite a few Toothpastes available that are free of known toxins, but these are definitely not be the ones that are placed at eye level in the supermarket shelves, or those that suggest to be healthy on the package. None of the main brand Toothpaste lists a single healthy or health promoting ingredient. Sadly though, the most popular heavily advertised brands seem to be the most toxic; it seems that large corporations invest more into marketing than research and have no concern for the sustained health of the consumers.
Case in point, the least toxic of hundreds of Colgate’s Toothpaste brands checks in at rank 147 of the non-profit Environmental Working Group’s comprehensive “Cosmeticdatabase”. In the most toxic category, Colgate occupies 3 of 11 positions while it clearly dominates the list with 71 of 128 products in the second highest toxin class. Procter & Gamble’s Crest also claims 1 position in the top toxic and 16 positions in the second most toxic class. Johnson &Johnson’s Rembrandt brand Toothpastes claim 3 positions in the most toxic and 14 in the second most toxic ranks.
None of the three behemoth corporations sport a single product in non-toxic or benign categories. That is the exact reason why we must educate ourselves about the function of the product.
Do those companies that control the market care about consumer health? The two market leaders Colgate Palmolive (Colgate, Ultra Brite, Tom’s of Maine) and Procter & Gamble (Crest) together an Oligopoly, control 60% of the Toothpaste market; GlaxoSmithKline (Aquafresh), and Church & Dwight (Arm & Hammer, plus Close-Up, Mentadent, Aim, Pepsodent acquired from Unilever in 2003), account for much of the rest.
It is obvious that these conglomerates are fiercely fighting over every point in market share and they have a shared vested interest in making consumer quality searches as tenuous as possible. This is clearly demonstrated by the way Industry conspires to delude the consumers: in May 2009 a letter leaked through the Blogosphere, citing how the Chemical Lobby intends to defray consumer pressure on BPA (Bisphenol A) Baby bottles by Employing fear tactics like threatening consumers with limited access to affordable baby food. Using a "pregnant young mother who would be willing to speak around the country about the benefits of BPA" as their 'holy grail' spokesperson. Focusing fear tactics on historically exploited populations including "Hispanic and African Amercians and the poor;"and "Befriending people that are able to manipulate the legislative process."
The incredible arrogance by which big Industry is addressing consumer concerns is evidenced by Johnson & Johnson’s retort to the May 27, 2009 letter by the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics to J&J’s CEO William C. Weldon; asking that its products made for children don’t contain hidden carcinogenic contaminants 1,4-dioxane and formaldehyde (which also occurs in most main brand Toothpastes as contaminants of ingredients). Both of these chemicals cause cancer in animals, and formaldehyde is also known to cause skin rashes in people who are sensitive to the chemical.
So what is J&J’s response? It chastises the messenger:
We are disappointed that the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics has inaccurately characterized the safety of our products, misrepresented the overwhelming consensus of scientists and government agencies that review the safety of ingredients, and unnecessarily alarmed parents”
Then they go on and grossly distort the facts:
“The FDA and other government agencies around the world consider these trace levels safe, and all our products meet or exceed the regulatory requirements in every country where they are sold.”
But the FDA does not regulate cosmetics and does not require companies to test their own products for safety. Moreover J&J is well able to market products without these toxins in Japan, in order to comply with regulations. So it is, once again, all about profits, at the cost of safety.

The Nordicware Popcorn Popper is one that actually works in the microwave. The 3-Qt. Popper makes light and fluffy popcorn in about 4 minutes. Just place 1/2-cup of popcorn kernels in the bottom bowl and cover with the lid. No oil needed, makes up to 12 cups of popped corn..
Made of gemstone, an unbreakable, chip-proof cookware material, the Nordic Ware corn popper efficiently transmits microwave energy directly to the popcorn kernels, popping them quickly without oil. It produces the results of a hot-air popper without an additional appliance. This oil-free method is refreshing when compared to bagged corn, because you don't have to contend with grease, salt, and artificial flavoring unless you dress the corn yourself after cooking. However, take care to monitor the progress of corn during the first use. The manufacturer lists a three-to-five-minute cook time for 1/2 cup of unpopped kernels, but as microwave ovens vary, it could take considerably less time to pop. And overcooked corn burns fast using this method. Luckily, the base and lid are designed not to warp or melt, so burned kernels won't damage them. Use this versatile popper for cooking, storing, and serving popcorn and other snacks. The popper base is also ovenproof. --Carol Gnojewski

Saunter Through Nature and Get Re-connected to Its Wonders
Nevertheless, a hike or a saunter can expose you to the most natural, spontaneous beauty and re-connect you with the simplicity of nature. As John Muir stated “Now these mountains are our Holy Land, and we ought to saunter through them reverently, not ‘hike’ through them.”
To saunter through the mountains is the best means to experience the beauty. Nature is preserved through National forests, thanks to great conservationists like John Muir and Ansel Adams (to name a few) in its 193 million acres of land. In other words, the size of Texas is disbursed throughout the United States making nature within everyone’s reach.
Whether you are a speed hiker (and love the momentum) or prefer to saunter through the mountains, you’ll need high quality, durable clothing, outer wear, equipment and accessories. Check out bargain outfitters that sell the top name gear and outerwear at a fraction of the price in the retail markets. You’ll get great names including (but not limited to) Patagonia, Columbia, North Face, Bolle, Vasque, Burton, and Spyder.
You control your destiny with nature: how short, how long, how distant, or how near you want to saunter. Here is a recommended list of minimally what to pack for your day saunter through nature:
1. Topographical map and a compass (Check out altimeter watch)
2. Water: If you think you’ve packed enough, bring more. Or invest in a lightweight Katadyn water filter so you can pump, filter and replenish your own water source.
3. Sunglasses and Sunscreen. See Oakley sunglasses.
4. Layers of clothing: especially if climbing into the sub-alpine and alpine areas. The weather can change drastically. An altimeter watch, with a barometer reading is an excellent addition. Pack capilene and fleece underclothes, gloves, wool hat and rain repellant jacket and pants.
5. Snacks and food. A dehydrated low-fueled hiker is a doomed one.
6. Hike with someone-always! If you are determined to hike alone, be sure that you leave your hiking information and time of return with a friend. If you change your plans last minute, leave a note in your car. (Cell phones do not work in the great outdoors- so please don’t rely on them).
7. Safety items must haves: first aid kit, matches, and emergency blankets. The Garmin GPS is a great addition for you who have a tendency to saunter and miss the turn.
8. Litter Bag- you must pack out what you pack in.
9. Bug Repellant and even Buz Off clothing. Just wear the clothes that contain a bug repellant without saturating your skin with the foul smelling, tasting deet.
10. Pack these essentials in a backpack that is right for your venture and your back. See shopping for the right backpack.
Gear for an optimum saunter was put to the test before listing it on this site. The footwear will support your feet and legs as they carry you through varied terrain. The outer wear will protect you from the elements of rain and snow yet allow your body to breathe. The site also features reputable reviews by experts from Outside Magazine, Outdoor Magazine and National Geographic.
For an overnight saunter or camping trip in the backcountry be sure to be prepared with an adequate sleeping bag, tent, and cooking mechanisms. Overnight camping in the great outdoors can be a wonderful experience when prepared. See Camping checklists. It’s all here for you. It’s only you that’s holding the possibility back.
Fall in love again with nature. Saunter thru the mountains and be prepared. The options are endless. The choice is yours.

Because clean water is necessary for good health, you may have started searching for a home water filter. Here are some tips to help you decide what kind of counter top water filter is right for your home.
Have Your Water Tested
You can use a home test kit or send a sample to an independent lab. If your water comes from a city water system, don't be surprised if you get back a list of unpronounceable chemicals. If you have your own well, the list should be very short.
Contaminants you do not want in your water fall into four major groups: things that make your water look, taste and smell funny, such as sediment, calcium and iron; bacteria and viruses, such as E. coli, giardia and cryptosporidium; organic chemicals like herbicides, pesticides, chlorine, chlorination byproducts and VOCs (volatile organic compounds); and inorganic compounds which include lead, mercury, copper and other heavy metals.
What To Look For
Water filter systems consist of a filter housing that lets the water in and out at the right time and filter cartridges that do the dirty work. If you have contaminants in your water from more than one group, you are going to want a filter system with two separate filter cartridges.
Currently, there are two basic types of filter cartridges for home water filter systems. Activated carbon filter cartridges remove a high percentage of most of the contaminants you'll find in city tap water. Solid carbon block filter cartridges remove an even higher percentage of contaminants because they are more dense and have greater area to trap undesirable elements.
Costs And Certifications
Now, consider the cost of your filter system. Your system should provide you with only the protection you need at the lowest possible cost. The housing should be durable, easy to install and easy to use. Carbon filter cartridges should be around $50 a piece, need to be replaced about every 6 months and they should be readily available from more than one source.
Once you've narrowed down your choices, make sure the systems are certified by the NSF and by one of the states. Compare the data sheets of each of the systems to see their effectiveness against all types of contaminants.
With this information in hand, you should be able to find the best counter top water filter system for your home that provides you with safe, clean water at a reasonable cost.
If BPA is cancer causing, then why is it still being used in most packaging?
I don’t understand why, if there are cancer causing agents in BPA, why it is still available and used in most things? While yes, they do offer BPA Free *versions* of some things but at a much higher cost and the others are still available. It doesn’t make sense to me why it is still legal to use in production and how companies can legally sell the safer version at a higher price? It sort of seems like unfair to lower income families. If there is in fact proof that BPA is cancer causing then it shouldn’t be available at all. I understand that cigarettes are cancer causing and still legal but smoking is not necessary to live, whereas it would be near impossible to get along never purchasing anything that is packaged in plastic.
Hi Kari,
BPA (short for Bisphenol A) is a key building block in the production of many plastics, especially polycarbonates. It is suspected (and I emphasis - SUSPECTED and not proven) as a carcinogen (cancer causing agent) mainly due to the fact that it can mimic the human body's natural hormone - Estrogen. Certain studies indicate that early development in children appears to be the period of greatest sensitivity to BPA, resulting in developmental impairment, cancer, obesity and interference with brain activity related to memory, learning and mood.
The reason it's so hard to obtain clear-cut proof that BPA is in fact toxic to us, is because we are exposed to it in very small amounts on a regular basis. So any noted effect in a scientific experiment may be attributed to numerous other factors, such as other chemicals we are exposed to at similar or even higher doses.
The reasons that it's so widely used lies in your question - it's cheaper for plastic manufactures to use BPA than the "safer" alternatives. And as long as major plastic manufacturers have a cheaper raw material to use, without any clear-cut proof of being a health hazard, they'll keep lobbing governments and politicians to keep from banning BPA. In fact just recently a bill to ban BPA in California was voted down.
Here are some tips to lower your exposure to BPA, even if you don't have to "big bucks" to buy the BPA-free stuff:
1. Plastic labeled as "Type 3" or "Type 7" are most likely to contain BPA.
2. Limit heating food and beverages in plastic containers (e.g., microwaving, leaving in the sun, etc.).
3. Consume fresh produce instead of canned foods.
4. Limit the exposure of babies, pregnant and breastfeeding women to foods contained in BPA packaging (e.g., baby bottles, water bottles, canned foods, etc.)
I hope I was able to help. You can find out more at the links I posted under sources - such as other products that may contain BPA and ways to easily test for it.
